Abstract:: Edward Hicks (1780-1849) was an American Quaker artist best known for his painting "The Peaceable Kingdom," of which he created more than 60 versions. Hicks lived in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania from 1811 until his death. The Newtown Historic Association collection on Edward Hicks and family, 1802-1986, includes a fair amount of original primary documents from Edward Hicks and his family members, as well as a large amount of articles, research notes, manuscripts, photocopies of Hicks documents and paintings, and related secondary materials compiled by Hicks scholars. The highlight of the collection is a daybook that was used by Edward Hicks and his son, Isaac W. Hicks, 1833-1885.

Abstract:: Klaus Guido Grutzka (1923-2011) was a commercial painter and illustrator who focused on industrial scenery and subjects. The Klaus Grutzka artwork and reference materials, 1939-2011, consist primarily of artworks by Grutzka, as well as photographs taken by him of finished works and of subjects for reference, diagrams and artworks by others collected by Grutzka for reference, and a very small amount of original documents such as correspondence about his works and newspaper clippings about him.

Abstract:: William H. Campbell (1915-2012) was an illustrator, painter, art director, and art teacher in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a co-founder of the Main Point, a coffeehouse and intimate performing venue for folk artists established in 1964 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. An active participant in the Philadelphia arts community, Campbell had several group and solo exhibitions, and received awards from Philadelphia and New York art organizations. The William H. Campbell papers, circa 1930s-2012, consist of materials relating to Campbell's personal and professional life, including materials from Campbell's youth; materials relating to Campbell's art education, work as a commercial artist and teacher, and his own artwork and exhibitions; records and other materials from organizations in which Campbell was involved; artist files compiled by Campbell; photographs, slides, color transparencies, audiocassettes, VHS cassettes, and a film reel; scrapbooks; records from the Main Point...(see more)

Abstract:: Woodmere Art Museum, located in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was officially established in 1940 through the will of Charles Knox Smith and is dedicated to Philadelphia-area artists. Woodmere Art Museum small collections of artists' papers, circa 1950s-2000s, consist of small amounts of photographs and slides, sketches, exhibition materials and other documents related to artwork, memorials, and other materials from artists who have a connection to Philadelphia and Woodmere Art Museum. Artists represented in the collection include Walter Erlebacher, Betty W. Hubbard, Jerome Kaplan, Charlotte Schatz, and Leon Sitarchuk.
