Abstract:
In 1995, the C. Everett Koop Community Health Information Center (CHIC) opened, operated by the Katherine A. Shaw Public Services Division of the Library of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia. The CHIC was a community resource that provided the public with access to the latest information about medical and health concerns. Available resources included electronic information, journals, newsletters, pamphlets, videocassettes, and a circulating collection of books. The CHIC was operated by the Katherine A. Shaw Public Services Division. The Records of the Consumer Health Information Center span the years 1991 to 2003 and include correspondence regarding planning and operations; grant proposals to fund the CHIC; basic information about the collection materials; and pamphlets, flyers, and branded realia.

Abstract:
Established in 1788, the Library of the College of Physicians served as Philadelphia's central medical library for over 150 years, serving medical schools, hospitals, physicians and other health professionals. Today, it is an independent research library devoted to the history of medicine and serves hundreds of scholars, health professionals, students and popular writers each year. The Reports of the Honorary Librarian and Library Committee span the years 1836 through February 1951. This collection contains annual and monthly reports prepared by the Honorary Librarian, 1864 through February 1951. Also included in the collection are annual reports by the Library Committee, 1836 through 1939. Previously catalogued as 10c 21.

Abstract:
Established in 1788, the Library of the College of Physicians served as Philadelphia's central medical library for over 150 years, serving medical schools, hospitals, physicians and other health professionals. Today, it is an independent research library devoted to the history of medicine and serves hundreds of scholars, health professionals, students and popular writers each year. The Records of book borrowed collection dates from 1792 to 1894, and holds by-laws for the Library from 1792, along with logs of books circulated in the Library for those years. Information found in each volume includes the date checked out, the accession[?] number of the book, its title, the borrower's name, any fines incurred, the date returned, and whether it was renewed. Most of the borrowers were College Fellows. Previously catalogued as 10c 23.

Abstract:
Established in 1788, the Library of the College of Physicians served as Philadelphia's central medical library for over 150 years, serving medical schools, hospitals, physicians and other health professionals. Today, it is an independent research library devoted to the history of medicine and serves hundreds of scholars, health professionals, students and popular writers each year. The Letters from Fellows requesting Library privileges for non-Fellows collection spans the years 1870 to 1974, although many years are not represented, and the bulk of the correspondence dates from 1910 to 1940. Included in this collection are letters of recommendation and signed business cards written by College Fellows to introduce non-Fellows to the College Library, and ask permission for the non-Fellows to use the Library. Records of the Library Committee of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia II, 1865-1950 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Library Committee of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia became a standing committee in 1834. The by-laws of this year state that the Library Committee "shall attend to the increase and preservation of the Library...they shall purchase books and carry into effect all such regulations pertaining to the Library...and shall present a report upon its condition". At this time, the chairman of the Library Committee acted as the Librarian of the College. In 1863, the Office of the Librarian was created, and the duties of the Library Committee were reduced to the "general supervision of the Library of the College". Also during this year, the Committee became responsible for providing an estimate of the Library's annual expenses. In 1870, due to an increasing demand for the Library's resources, it was decided that a member of the Committee would attend in the Library daily and receive an annual salary for his services. Abstract:
The College of Physicians of Philadelphia developed the Section on Humanism in Medicine to help enrich the curriculum of local medical schools in the area. This initiative was conceptualized in the early 2000s and ended in 2007, with funding supported by Horace W. Goldsmith and Arcadia Foundations. The Section aimed to bridge the arts and humanities with medicine, inviting visiting scholars, doubling as successful poets and writers, to present their compositions and artists to exhibit their creations surrounding the core theme of hope and healing amongst pain. The Records of the Section on Humanism in Medicine spans from 1986 to 2007. The collection consists mostly of paper materials (with some mixed materials) involving speaker lectures or artist exhibitions offered at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia (CPP) during these years. Abstract:
Established in 1788, the Library of the College of Physicians served as Philadelphia's central medical library for over 150 years, serving medical schools, hospitals, physicians and other health professionals. Today, it is an independent research library devoted to the history of medicine and serves hundreds of scholars, health professionals, students and popular writers each year. The College of Physicians of Philadelphia Library records (1882 to 2005) extensively documents the administration of the College Library, as well as its public services and functions. The collection contains the papers of several librarians, curators, and other library staff, including Andrea Kenyon, Marjorie Smink, Elliott Morse, and Anthony Aguirre. The collection largely comprises correspondence, reports and records, and the bulk of the material dates from 1953 to 2007.

Established in 1788, the Library of the College of Physicians served as Philadelphia's central medical library for over 150 years, serving medical schools, hospitals, physicians and other health professionals. Today, it is an independent research library devoted to the history of medicine and serves hundreds of scholars, health professionals, students and popular writers each year. This collection, Library exhibtion labels, dates from the 1960s through 1997, although the bulk of the material is from 1973 through 1975. It contains labels, and a few typescript booklets, for exhibits curated by Library staff. All folder titles came from the envelopes in which the labels were originally stored.
