Abstract:: Saint Martins Station in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia was built along the Pennsylvania Railroad line in 1883. In 1981, the non-profit St. Martin's Station Grounds Committee was founded to restore and operate the building and its grounds. The bulk of the St. Martin's Station Grounds Committee Papers, 1962-1994, consists of financial records. There are some minutes, administrative records, and a few photographs in the collection as well.

The Henry George Birthplace, Archive, and Historical Research Center rehabilitation and restoration project records, 1957-1989 (bulk) 1957-2006 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Henry George Birthplace, located at 413 S. Tenth Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the only surviving residence connected to famed journalist and political economist, Henry George, who was born there in 1839. In 1957, the building was sold to the Henry George School of Social Science (HGSSS), at which time some minor renovations were made. Between 1987 and 1989 the building was restored to its original 1839 appearance. In 2013 the Birthplace was designated as a research and education division within the HGSSS, and was renamed the Henry George Birthplace, Archive, and Research Center. Abstract:: The land that is now the Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania, the official Arboretum of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, was previously the private estate of Quaker siblings John Thompson Morris (1847-1915) and Lydia Thompson Morris (1849-1932). The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania plans, drawings, and maps collection, 1909-2013, depicts the lands, gardens, buildings, and landscape features of the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.

Keswick Theatre records, 1980-2006 (bulk) 1924-2006 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Keswick Theatre, designed by famed architect Horace Trumbauer as a combination vaudeville/movie house, opened in Glenside, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1928. The theater was closed in 1980 and slated for demolition when the Glenside Landmarks Society, a not-for-profit group, formed with the hope of restoring it to its former grandeur and operations. They were successful, and the Keswick re-opened under private ownership in 1988. The Keswick Theatre records, 1924-2006, include newspaper clippings, a scrapbook, ephemera such as tickets and programs, documents from the Glenside Landmark Society, and research for a book on the Keswick.

Abstract:: Plymouth Meeting (in Plymouth and Whitemarsh Townships) in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, was settled during the late 17th century by English and Welsh Quaker and German immigrants. In 1686, the discovery of limestone drew more settlers to the area. Several railroad lines were constructed in the area during the 19th century, which encouraged a growth in industry. Plymouth and Whitemarsh grew significantly after World War II, especially during the latter decades of the 20th century after completion of the Blue Route (Interstate 476) with its major interchange in Plymouth Township. Abstract:: Soon after the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition, the Committee of 1926 was granted stewardship of historic Strawberry Mansion in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The all-women's group continues to operate the mansion as a museum space with decorated period rooms as of 2012. The Committee of 1926 of Pennsylvania records, 1926-1995, include financial and administrative records, photographs, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings. A highlight of the collection is "The Book of Honor," an illuminated manuscript with biographies of influential Pennsylvania women executed by famed children's author Carolyn Haywood.

Abstract:: The Women's Committee of the Philadelphia Sesquicentennial Exposition of 1926 was formed to promote, raise funds, and create exhibits for the exposition. One of their most ambitious and popular exhibits was High Street, a recreation of early American life through buildings and period reenactment. The Women's Committee records, 1921-1927, contain administrative and financial records as well as ephemera generated by the committee.
