Philadelphia Club of Advertising Women records, 1916-1984 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Philadelphia Club of Advertising Women (PCAW) was founded in 1916 by sixteen women advertising executives. The Club participated in charitable efforts, offered advertising courses, published a newsletter (Ad-Land News), and hosted social events throughout its history. These efforts garnered national recognition for PCAW as a leading advertising organization. It also won them recognition locally as an organization committed to helping the community through scholarships and charitable giving. This collection contains the records produced by PCAW from 1916 to 1984, including material related to their advertising courses, events, history, charity involvement, and meetings. The collection has several strengths, the most notable of which is its comprehensive coverage of organizational activities from 1930 to 1977. Solebury Farmers Club records, 1871-2010 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Founded by a group of 20 farmers in 1871, the aim of the Solebury Farmers Club (Bucks County, Pennsylvania) was "mutual improvement and instruction in the arts of agriculture and horticulture." As of 2013, the Club is still in existence, making it among the oldest agricultural organizations in Bucks County. The bulk of the Solebury Farmers Club records, 1871-2010, is minute books. The collection also includes newspaper clippings scrapbooks, membership dues records, copies of the Solebury Farmers Club Journal newsletters, materials relative to the 90th and 100th anniversary celebrations of the Club, and various other documents, printed materials, and photographs.

The Women's Club of Flourtown in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, was formally established in 1941 as the Whitemarsh Valley Woman's Club. It was part of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), an organization uniting local community service, volunteer, and charitable women's groups. The Women's Club of Flourtown records, 1966-1992, are comprised of publicity clipping scrapbooks, files on events, meeting minutes, and other records of the club.

The Hungarian American Citizens Club was founded in Phoenixville (Chester County, Pennsylvania) in 1925. It offered members a place to socialize and celebrate Hungarian culture, while simultaneously encouraging them to learn English and practice good citizenship. The club closed in early 2001 due to waning membership. The Hungarian American Citizens Club records, 1937-1991, include minute books, financial records, and an attendance book.

Abstract:
Kiwanis Club is an international, co-educational service club founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan, which commits volunteer hours to serve children and strengthen communities. The Kiwanis club of Jenkintown was chartered in 1949 through the sponsorship of the Kiwanis Club of Glenside. The Kiwanis Club of Jenkintown records are a gift of the club, consisting of 13 linear feet of material housed in 32 boxes. The collection spans from 1949 to 2014 and comprises chronological files, administrative records, financial, and membership records, as well as publications and memorabilia.

John Woolman Memorial Association records, 1915-1937

Abstract:
The John Woolman Memorial Association was founded in 1915 by Amelia Mott Gummere. It operates out of a historic house in Mount Holly, New Jersey, where John Woolman's family lived, and where their apple orchard once existed. According to its by-laws, its purpose was "the preservation of John Woolman's house [...], for the purpose of social service in the spirit of John Woolman and for antiquarian interest." It is still a working organization today. This collection contains one volume of records, mostly minutes from the John Woolman Memorial Association. It spans from its start in 1915, finishing with dedication to the death of Amelia Mott Gummere, founder of the Association, in 1937.

Divotees Golf Club records, 1920-1995 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Divotees were a largely Quaker club. The records of the Divotees, 1921-1995, indicate that meetings generally involved a game of golf in addition to club business, such as nominating new members and taking and spending money. Also included are records of each member's handicap, prizes awarded, and the complete records of each year's games. These records are combined into yearly publications: the "Divotee Mirror," later the "Divotee Record." This publication also records the Divotees' rivalry with the Ozones, another golf club, occasional golfing trips to Bermuda, and the jokes, songs, cartoons, poems, and other lighthearted material related to the club.

Henry H. Houston Estate collection, circa 1905-1996

Abstract:
Henry Howard Houston (1820-1895) was a prominent Philadelphia businessman and philanthropist influential in the development of Chestnut Hill. As a high-ranking executive for the Pennsylvania Railroad, he convinced the company to run a line west through Chestnut Hill, opening in 1884. As a property developer, he helped establish the affluent neighborhoods of Chestnut Hill and Germantown, and he donated a building and property in Chestnut Hill to the Philadelphia Cricket Club. The Henry H. Houston Estate collection, circa 1905-1996, includes correspondence and other materials concerning Philadelphia Cricket Club and the Houston estate. It features three estate ledgers, dated 1938, 1940, and 1951.
