Jacob S. Geller business and estate records, 1888-1936 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Jacob Stoll Geller (1846-1916), a retail merchant, public official, and prominent Mason, founded and operated Geller's Emporium, a wholesale department store in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. By the late 19th century, the emporium came to serve as the largest retailer in the North Penn area of Montgomery County. After Geller passed away in 1916, his business was briefly carried on by his family though its success diminished considerably. The bulk of Jacob S. Geller business and estate records, 1888-1936, is invoices for goods purchased by Jacob S. Geller and, later, the Jacob Geller estate. Also included are incoming business correspondence to Jacob S. Geller and estate financial records.

The Suburban Horsham Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce (SHWGCC) was a civic group in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania that worked to advance the business interests of the area from about 2004 to 2008. The Suburban Horsham Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce records, 1965-2006, include administrative records from SHWGCC as well as from the two former organizations which merged to create it: the Greater Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce and the Horsham Township Chamber of Commerce.

Greater Jenkintown Chamber of Commerce records, 1962-1994 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Jenkintown Businessmen's Association was established in 1933. Over the next several years the organization changed its name a number of times. In 1961 the group became known as the Jenkintown Chamber of Commerce. The organization marked its expanding geographical interests when it renamed itself the Greater Jenkintown Chamber of Commerce in 1968 and then the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce in 1992. The Greater Jenkintown Chamber of Commerce records, 1962-1994, consist of Board of Directors minutes and other materials relating to the activities of the organization.

Abstract:
Papers from the Fourth World Conference of Friends (Quakers) which was held at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1967. Edwin Bronner was chair of the Executive Committee of the American Section, but there was worldwide representation by Friends and guests. A well known speaker at the conference was U.N. Secretary General U Thant.

Morley-Cain papers, 1935-1957 (inclusive)

Abstract:
This collection includes correspondence and manuscripts. The correspondence consists of two series: one business, the other personal. The former series is composed chiefly of letters from Christopher Morley. Many are letters of thanks for correspondence as well as about manuscripts sent to him for publishing in his "Bowling Green" column or other publications. The business correspondence was on acidic, crumbling paper and has been photocopied onto acid-free paper. The latter series includes letters primarily written by Christopher Morley to his secretary, Helen Hare, later Cain, which refer heavily to his literary work, to personal friends, such as Buckminster Fuller, and personal philosophy. Among other items, there is a telegram and copies of letters from Ginger Rogers. Christopher Morley's manuscripts include poems, essays, novelettes, chapters from his books, and aphorisms.

Letters discuss family and friends, the small schools that many members of these families began in the Midwest, as well as comments on politics, slavery, religion, education, the Civil War and friends/family fighting in the Confederate army, and other topics.
