Abstract:
This collection consists of notes taken by Mary V. Clymer, a nurse famous for her appearance in Thomas Eakins' painting "The Agnew Clinic." Clymer was a student at the Training School for Nurses at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, from 1888 to 1889. The notes documented the variety of experiences which were part of her educational program.

The Professional Nurse Educators Group was formed in 1969 by the American Nurses Association's Council on Continuing Education (later Professional Development) that was disbanded in 1999. Since 2000 the Group continues to hold unofficial conferences to meet the networking and educational needs of its members. This collection spans Neville Strumpf's personal and professional life, in particular her tenure at the University of Pennsylvania. Also includes some of the numerous publications and papers she wrote and, most notably, her research work with reducing restraint use among the frail elderly in nursing homes.
