Abstract:: Edna LaPorte Strumpf was an Army nurse during World War II, as well as a longtime nurse in Veterans Hospitals and a Red Cross volunteer. This collection consists predominantly of lecture notes and exams from the period of Edna Strumpf's attendance at Mt. Sinai Hospital Training School for Nurses in Philadelphia, from 1934-1937.

Abstract:: Hildegard Elizabeth Peplau was nationally and internationally known for her expertise in psychiatric and mental health nursing. This collection consists primarily of papers on psychiatric nursing which Hildegard Peplau prepared and presented at conferences, workshops, and other professional activities. It also contains reprints of a number of her published articles.

Roberta M. West collection, 1886-1937

Abstract:: The collection consists of material compiled and used by Miss West and the History Committee for the writing of the History of Nursing in Pennsylvania. It contains a large amount of data about nurses' training and practice from hospitals all over the state. It also contains original documents of the Graduate Nurses' Association of the State of Pennsylvania in its formative years.

Dorothy A. Mereness papers, 1910-1991 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Dorothy Ann Mereness, R.N., Ed.D., F.A.A.N., was Dean of the School of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania from 1965 to 1977 and a pioneer in the development of psychiatric nursing. This collection consists of personal papers and institutional files. The personal papers document Mereness's professional development. Although largely incomplete, the organizational files show the extent of Mereness's involvement in the development of nursing at both regional and national levels.

Sara Maiter Errickson papers, 1937-1989 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Sara Cecelia Maiter Errickson was a graduate of Seton Hall University, class of 1946. Her public health nursing career involved many New Jersey area nursing and community health organizations. She retired in 1979. This collection includes Errickson's personal files as well as files relating to Errickson's organizational activities. The vast majority of this collection is composed of xeroxed copies.
