Abstract:: Zelma Corning Brandt (1891-1990) was a social crusader active throughout the twentieth century. Her chief interests included the independence and development of colonial countries, American Indian affairs, nuclear disarmament, women's issues, and geriatric concerns. The collection consists of correspondence, travel notes, diaries and writings, and publications and reports, especially from 1960-1989. Brandt's longevity and attention to detail provide a complete view of various world and domestic issues and events through this period. Zelma Brandt attended Bryn Mawr College from 1909 to 1911.

Abstract:: Stephen G. Cary graduated from Germantown Friends School in 1933 and from Haverford College in 1937. He earned a master's degree in international administration from Columbia University in 1943. Between 1946 and 1969, Cary worked for the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), and was the chairman of the AFSC from 1979 to 1991. Cary was a member of the Haverford College Board of Managers from 1955 to 1969. In 1969, he joined the staff as vice president of development. He was acting president of Haverford from 1977 to 1978, and served as senior vice president of the College from 1979 to 1981. This is a collection of his professional and personal papers. Materials include documents related to the American Friends Service Committee, Haverford College, and the Clarence and Lilly Pickett Endowment for Quaker Leadership. Abstract:: Howard Haines Turner (1909-1996) was a Quaker economist and educator who was active in a variety of social concerns, particularly in improving the justice system. He also had a lifelong interest in cooperative communities and worked in South Vietnam under the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). His photograph collection, dating from the early 1900s to about 1995, consists of color black and white and slide photos of his family,. friends, and travel.

Abstract:: This collection contains the papers of Richard Warren Thompson (1949-1973), a Quaker from Kansas City, Missouri, who attended Westtown Boarding School and served with the American Friends Service Committee in Vietnam in 1972 and 1973. His papers illustrate his vibrant childhood and college years, Thompson being an outspoken advocate for peace and helping others. He was a Conscientious Objector and resisted the draft in Vietnam, and instead chose to live in Vietnam on his own terms, as a civilian generalist working in the Quang Ngai Rehabilitation Center. He died in November of 1973 in a tragic plane crash in Vietnam. This collection encompasses materials created by Thompson during his life, as well as correspondence and other materials created in his memory.

Abstract:: Richard C. Holbrooke was an American diplomat who led negotiations at the Dayton Accords for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995. The Richard C. Holbrooke Papers contain Holbrooke's subject files, records of public statements, correspondence, writings and drafts of writings, articles and periodicals, and audiovisual materials.
