Abstract:: This single volume, created through a 1936-1937 National Youth Administration project, supervised by Henry Clay Reed, the noted Delaware historian and University of Delaware professor, contains transcriptions from the record books of five Newark churches: the Village Presbyterian Church; the First Presbyterian Church; the Welsh Tract Baptist Church; the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church; and the Head of Christiana Church. The records inlcude detailed accounts of minutes from meetings; lists of births, deaths, and church membership; records of dismissals, admissions, and resignations; as well as copies of indentures and deeds.

Abstract:: The Everett C. & Louise Stanton Johnson papers concern the personal affairs of prominent Delaware publisher and politician Everett C. Johnson (1877-1926) and his wife Louise Staton Johnson (1882-1977). In addition, the collection contains material from their Newark publishing house, the Press of Kells, which brought the Arts and Crafts Movement to the community from 1916 to 1918.

Abstract:: Henry Clay Reed, 1899-1972, was a renound Delaware historian and history professor at the University of Delaware for forty years, researching, teaching, writing, and editing numerous articles and books. The Henry Clay Reed papers, spanning the dates from 1915-1974, contains legal documents, photographs, microfilm, correspondence, research notes, manuscripts, publications, and ephemera from the historian and University of Delaware professor.

Iron Hill Museum oral history recordings and transcripts, 2003-2010 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Iron Hill Museum oral history collection consists of 37 interviews (recorded on 59 audio cassettes) documenting the history of the Iron Hill School #112C, which was one of the African American schools built in Delaware with funds provided by Pierre S. du Pont. Additional interviews in this collection document life in the Iron Hill community and nearby Pleasant Valley, as well as education provided in a few other Delaware schools in Hockessin, Milton, and Claymont.

Abstract:: This collection contains 22 oral history interviews providing a wealth of information on history and culture of the New London Road/Cleveland Avenue community in Newark, Delaware. These interviews, collected during two oral history projects by University of Delaware Professor Bernard L. Herman and students from 2004-2006, feature members of the New London Road community and discuss various aspects of life in the predominantly African-American community. The collection contains transcripts of selected interviews created by students as well as research data, recipes, and galley proofs for the book "Food Always Brings People Together: recipes, poems, and stories from the New London Road community, Newark, Delaware," written by the University of Delaware Center for Material Culture Studies, under the direction of Professor Herman.
