- Edward Parker Read (1868-1944) was a Black entrepreneur who mainly sold cure-alls. He also marketed himself as an extremely educated and successful man, and may have written several books and engaged in many other industries including publishing, insurance, financial, charitable, real estate and medical. This collection contains both personal materials relating to his wife Allie (1880-1965) as well as financial documents, advertisements, broadsides and correspondence relating to his many business endeavors.
