Abstract:: This collection comprises the carbon typescript for an unpublished manuscript titled "Henry Kirke Brown: The Father of American Sculpture," which was compiled, written, and edited by Henry Kirke Bush-Brown. It additionally includes an abridged version with the same title, also prepared by Bush-Brown. The typescript contains a description of Henry Kirke Brown's life, transcripts of his correspondence, photographs of his homes and artistic works, poems, sketches, and a genealogical chart of the Brown family. Several original letters, poems, photographs, and art are tipped into the typescript.

Abstract:: American Selina C. Washburn kept this travel diary during her 1854 voyage from Boston, Massachusetts, to London, England, and Paris, France. Selina and her sister Sarah accompanied their father Cyrus Washburn on a business trip and her diary records her impressions of persons encountered, shops visited, and sightseeing excursions.

Abstract:: This collection consists of documents pertaining to and the hand-signed letters of prominent American figures of the early 1920s. Many concern explorer Henry Grant Bryant and the Melville-Bryant Drift Cask Experiment. Other notable persons associated with this collection include Martin van Buren, William Howard Taft, Herbert Hoover, Ulysses S. Grant, and James Buchanan. Additionally, there are two autograph books within the collection.

Abstract:: David Lynch (1793-1860) was an active member of the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania in the mid-19th century and a friend and supporter of President James Buchanan. The bulk of this collection is comprised of Lynch's correspondence with other politically active Pennsylvanians and includes letters between Lynch and Buchanan. Also included are personal papers, pamphlets, religious ephemera, newspaper clippings, photos, and engravings.

Abstract:: This is a varied collection of historical manuscripts obtained by the Free Library of Philadelphia over the course of its history. The collection dates from 1347 to 1969 and is primarily an autograph collection. The collection includes American, British, and European materials; the majority of the items are American. There are typewritten transcriptions of some of the letters in the collection.

Abstract:: This is a collection of manuscript letters of presidents of the United States dating from 1780 to 1993 collected by Norman H. Strouse. All of the presidents are represented except for Abraham Lincoln, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan. The letters and other documents relating to Abraham Lincoln have been separated into their own collection at the Free Library of Philadelphia. Older letters are generally more substantive, with more recent letters mostly being short notes of thanks.
