Abstract:
The Quad Council of Public Nursing Organizations provides leadership, voice and visibility for public health nurses through setting a national policy agenda on issues related to public health nursing. The Quad Council is comprised of representatives from four organizations: Association of Public Health Nurses (APHN); Association of Community Health Nursing Educators (ACHNE); Public Health Nursing Section of the American Public Health Association (PHN - APHA); and the American Nurses Association Council on Nursing Practice and Economics (ANA). This collection contains meeting minutes, statements and reports, and other printed documents reflecting the activities of the Quad Council.

Mary Starke Harper was a nurse leader in health policy and a scholar of geropsychiatric nursing and the care of the minority elderly. She was the first African American graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. The papers of Alice Lee Chun, a distinguished nurse in the public health field in New York, reflect a broad career. She obtained her degrees from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and New York University. This collection includes administrative records, correspondences, reports, articles, conference programs, and research projects for the various organizations she either worked for or with during her nursing career: Coney Island Hospital, National League for Nursing, Inc., the Department of Health Education and Welfare, Council of Community / Home Health Services Agency, Community Service Society, the Department of Educational Nursing, and others. Her personal papers contain essays and research in the public health field. This collection also includes copies of a radio series she did in both English and Chinese for the Chinese-American community in New York in 1952.
