Night Waltz: the Music of Paul Bowles collection, 1997-2000 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The collection of the documentary film Night Waltz: the Music of Paul Bowles spans the dates 1997-2000, and contains 16.3 linear feet of film footage, video and audio tapes, compact discs, computer diskettes, photographs, production notes, promotional materials, and correspondence related to the research, production, and promotion of Night Waltz. The archive contains materials from all stages of production, ranging from the original 16 mm color film negatives to the commercially released VHS video tape. Originally titled Odd Man Out, most of the materials in the collection refers to the film by the earlier title. The title Night Waltz appears to have been chosen in the late stages of production. The correspondence contained in the collection, which is spread throughout the various series, reveals the filmmakers’ conception of the film and its evolution, providing a running narrative of the difficulties and challenges of independent filmmaking. Littleton and Jane Mitchell papers, 1911-2009 (inclusive) 1950-2000 (bulk)

Abstract:
The Littleton and Jane Mitchell papers document the life and career of the Delaware-based civil rights activist and educator Littleton P. Mitchell (1918-2004) and his wife Jane E. Mitchell (1921-2004). The collection contains material relating to his education, activities as a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, his three decades-long leadership of the Delaware NAACP, his career as a teacher and counselor at Governor Bacon Health Center in Delaware City, and his involvement in a number of organizations. The collection also highlights the career of Jane Mitchell, one of Delaware's first African-American nurses and former director of nursing at the Delaware State Hospital. There are also photographs, slides, and other media documenting the Mitchells' family life as well as their participation in local and national events. Abstract:
The William A. Oliver, Jr. collection related to The Mystery of Edwin Drood comprises 10.5 linear feet of material plus oversize items dating from 1844 to 2005 and includes extensive bibliographic information relating to the works of Charles Dickens and specifically to the author's final novel The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1870), which was unfinished at the time of his death. The collection, which illuminates Oliver's activities as a collector and bibliographer, includes publications that printed original versions of the storyline, as well as various derivative works based on the novel; extensive bibliographies of editions of Dickens's works and scholarly work on Dickensiana, with a focus on Edwin Drood; and travel information and souvenirs from Dickens-related landmarks and events.

Chrysler Corporation Newark Assembly Plant collection, 1986-2008 (inclusive)

Abstract:
This collection contains audiovisual material, publications, photographs, and other material from the Chrysler Corporation Newark Assembly Plant publicity office, donated after the closure of the plant in December 2008. Much of the material documents the working life of Chrysler employees in the Newark plant, human resources and employee training, and the processes required to build automobiles at the plant. The collection also documents many of the programs instituted by the United Auto Workers.
