Abstract:: The Library records contains documentation of the Drexel University Library from its creation in 1891 to 2003. Drexel University Library has been housed in three different buildings; the Main Building (1891-1958), the Korman Center (1959-1982) and W.W. Hagerty Library (1983-2010). The library was also responsible for running the library school until 1962, with the exception of the years 1914 to 1922 when the library school was suspended. The documents in this collection constitute a record of the activities of the directors, the internal library departments, and the intensive planning of the form and function of the two library buildings.

Anne Wertsner Wood slide collection, 1940-1960 (bulk) 1940-1983 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Anne Wertsner Wood (1907-2004) was a horticulturist, writer and lecturer from the Philadelphia area. She was an active leader in the gardening community at the local, national, and international levels. She is recognized for her participation in numerous flower shows, garden creations, outreach activities, writings and lectures. This collection contains slides compiled and used by Anne Wertsner Wood. There are two boxes of color photographic slides that date from 1940 to 1983, with the bulk of slides dating from 1940 to 1960. The slides document Wertsner’s travels to various local and international gardens, her involvement with the Philadelphia Flower Show, and her involvement in community activities.

Erich Uhlenbrock papers, 1942-1985 (bulk) 1915-1991 (inclusive)

Extent:: 1.25 linear feet (3 boxes + 1 oversize folder)
Abstract:: This collection documents the personal and charitable activities of Erich Uhlenbrock, a German-American, during the years 1915 to 1991. Throughout his life, Uhlenbrock was involved with many German-American organizations, including the Steuben Society of America. His passion was for singing and he was very involved in a number of singing groups in Philadelphia and the region, including the Liedertafel-Saengerbund, the Vereinigte Sänger von Philadelphia, and the Nordöstlicher Sängerbund. Included are biographical information, business records, correspondence, photographs, clippings, pamphlets, and ephemera from many of these organizations. Uhlenbrock was also friends with the Philadelphia painter and illustrator Conrad J. Linke, and the collection contains sketches for two of Linke's historical paintings.

Abstract:: The Catherine W. Kallal Papers pertain to the publication of Delaware Government by the League of Women Voters of Delaware, Kallal's years as president of the LWV of Delaware and the LWV of Greater Wilmington, as well as information on environmental issues in Delaware from 1968 to 2005.

John Digby papers, 1963-2004 (inclusive) 1974-2002 (bulk)

Abstract:: British-born poet and collagist John Digby (born 1938) immigrated to the United States in 1978 and lives on Long Island with his wife Joan Digby, whose creative work is also represented in this collection. Digby's papers document nearly five decades (1963-2004) of a prolific artistic and literary career, with significant representation of Digby's collaborations with international colleagues exhibiting, publishing, and creating Surrealist works in the 1960s-1970s. The collection includes all states of published and unpublished works, extensive correspondence, exhibition files, and original artwork.

Abstract:: British-born poet and collagist John Digby (born 1938) immigrated to the United States in 1978 and lives on Long Island with his wife Joan Digby, whose creative work is also represented in this collection. The John Digby papers supplement reflects Digby's prolific artistic and literary career, Joan Digby's creative and professional work, and their collaboration as editors and contributors to their imprint, The Feral Press, between 2002-2016. The Digbys published nearly 100 authors and artists during this time, featuring poetry (including translations into English), fiction, and essays from both emerging and established writers.

Williams Papers, spanning the dates 1907-2006, comprise 11.6 linear feet of manuscripts, academic papers, correspondence, photographs, teaching materials, and academic research relating to the areas of study and publications of Williams, a prominent Delaware historian based in Sussex County, Delaware. The collection is divided into six series, with series III. through VI. corresponding to major subject areas studied by Williams.
