Abstract:: The George Handy Papers, 1845-1871 (bulk 1846-1850), comprises 273 letters and business documents from a prominent Philadelphia-based nineteenth-century merchant. The collection, as a whole, reflects social and personal relations with Handy family members in Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Mississippi, as well as other friends; and business and economic affairs of domestic and foreign commerce, much of which was conducted by shipping through the ports of Philadelphia and New Orleans, or via the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

Abstract:: Harold Brayman (1900-1988), a political journalist and former director of the Public Relations Department of Du Pont Company for 21 years, helped establish a concept of public relations which was widely emulated throughout the United States. The Harold Brayman papers, spanning from 1900-1991, document the successful dual career of one man in the fields of journalism and public relations. The collection includes correspondence, memoranda, press releases, speeches, newspaper clippings and articles, manuscripts for publications, photographs, and memorabilia.

Willard Saulsbury, Jr., papers, 1716-1930 (inclusive) 1908-1926 (bulk)

Abstract:: Willard Saulsbury, Jr. (1861-1927), was a prominent Delaware lawyer and a member of a a leading Delaware political family, serving in the United States Senate from 1913-1919 as as President Pro Tempore of the Senate from 1916 to 1919. The bulk of the Willard Saulsbury, Jr., papers belong to Saulsbury himself, dating from 1908-1926 when Saulsbury was at his political and business peak. The collection, consisting of papers, photographs, maps, and political realia, also includes papers and legal documents belonging to Saulsbury's father, items from the settlement of Saulsbury's estate and papers from cases handled by Saulsbury's law firm, which were not closed until after his death.

Abstract:: The Townsend family (of Delaware) papers consists of letters, accounts, and other business records, spanning the years 1809-1920, with the majority of the material falling between 1834 and 1894. The collection mainly consists of business letters sent to Samuel and John Townsend, political and personal letters sent to Samuel Townsend, and family correspondence, including twenty letters written by Edmund Townsend during the Civil War.

Abstract:: The Archives of Georgetown, Delaware, businesses is the gift of Milt Chaski, Jr., who acquired the material in one "odd lot" at an auction sale. The collection consists primarily of materials related to three prominent businesses that were active in Georgetown, Delaware, at the turn of and into the mid-twentieth century: J.W. Blizzard, Layton & Layton, and the Georgetown Gas Company.

Abstract:: The L. Lee Layton, Jr., papers include personal and business papers of this well known Sussex countian and Dover-area businessman. Files relate to his business Layton & Company, and landholdings in Layton Farms and Cypress Farms. Mr. Layton maintained topical files on various political and social issues, as well as correspondence and publications related to his opinions. Additional papers belong to Mr. Layton's wife, Marianne Layton.

Abstract:: Peter Owen publishing records is the publisher’s archive (1950s-1995) of an independent British firm renowned for its international list of major authors and avant garde works. The bulk of the collection consists of the production files of selected works, primarily from the 1980s and 1990s, including edited typescripts, proofs, and other materials documenting the process of turning an author’s manuscript into a finished book.
