Abstract:: John Furnival (1933-2020) was a British visual artist whose work is associated with the Concrete Poetry, Mail Art, and Fluxus movements, as well as with the American Beats. In 1964, Furnival, along with Dom Sylvester Houédard, founded Openings Press, a small Gloucestershire press dedicated to publishing concrete poetry and similar work. The John Furnival papers encompass nearly fifty years of the artist's personal and professional activity and document his involvement with the International Concrete Poetry and Mail Art movements through correspondence, publications, broadsides, and posters.

Abstract:: Zephyrus Image, founded by Holbrook Teter and Michael Myers, was a small Northern California press operating from approximately 1969-1983, notable for its socially- and politically-subversive books and ephemera and its fine works on paper. The Zephyrus Image records document the activities of the California press and its proprietors and the planning and development of roughly 300 printed works of poetry and political and satirical books and ephemera. Zephyrus Image projects were created for and in collaboration with a host of literary and artistic figures, including Edward Dorn, Tom Raworth, William T. Wiley, Lucia Berlin, Stan Brakhage, and Robert Creeley.
