Soloman Bush daybook, 1789-1792 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This daybook contains medical observations and recipes from Philadelphia resident, Dr. Solomon Bush. The son of Mathias Bush, Dr. Solomon Bush practiced medicine around the time of the Revolutionary War despite not having any formal training. In addition to his medical case studies and remedy recipes, his daybook also includes a memorandum of his marriage to Ann, the daughter of Christopher Marshall on April 2, 1791. The announcement of the birth of his son, Nathan Marshall Bush, follows on February 23rd, 1792. This collection was discovered during a survey in the summer and fall of 2015.

Oscar Guthmann family papers, circa 1914-1940

Abstract:: Oscar Guthmann was a German seaman, born in Hamburg, in 1894, who later apparently settled in New York City. The collection comprises a 1921 copy of Guthmann's birth certificate, and 6 photographs, including one that is on a postcard addressed to a German, Hans Lüders, who was interned at the Knockaloe Aliens Camp on the Isle of Man, England, during World War I. Another photograph depicts a sailboat, or yacht, named Jacinta, at dock, and is inscribed on the verso with the name and address of Chase Adams of Dearborn, Michigan.

Abstract:: The William H. Davenport collection includes records from field research in the Santa Cruz Islands, Guadalcanal and San Cristobal Islands, and other Solomon Islands; the Moluccas and Sulawesi in Indonesia; and Sarawak in Malaysia, among other locations. Materials span the period from 1952-2002 and contain records primarily related to Davenport's field research, professional activities, student mentoring, and articles and publications.

Abstract:: The Supplement to the John Malcolm Brinnin Papers comprises thirteen linear feet of material spanning the dates [1800s]-1998 (bulk dates 1935-1998). Most of the collection consists of letters to Brinnin; poems, a memoir, journals, and articles written by Brinnin; and personal documents, such as a passport, birth certificate, medical and hospice information, draft notice, photographs, and college diploma. However, the supplement also includes books or manuscripts written by other authors and friends, artwork, clippings, computer software, travel brochures and itineraries, and audiovisual material related to Brinnin.

Truxton W. Boyce genealogical research and family papers, 1792-1999 (inclusive) 1850s-1980s (bulk)

Abstract:: The Truxton W. Boyce genealogical research and family papers contains twenty-six three-ring notebooks and nine folders of genealogical research notes, family photographs, correspondence, and other ephemera related to nineteenth- and twentieth-century generations of Boyce's family lines from Delaware and Virginia. Boyce's research includes the Boyce, Justis, Morrow, Shreve, Wright, Brownley, Lawrence, Sebree, Adams, and Tuley families, as well as the family lines of his wife, Doris Jolls Boyce (including the Jolls, McColgan, Colge, Wise, Lutz, and Lorenz families). In addition to the genealogical focus of the collection, nine autobiographical scrapbooks document the family life of Truxton W. Boyce and his wife, Doris Jolls Boyce, who began their married life in 1942 in Newark, Delaware.
