- Evelyn Jones Rich (BMC 1954) was the first Black residential student of Bryn Mawr College. While at Bryn Mawr, she was active in Students for Democratic Action the Bryn Mawr League, and the Self-Government Association. In 1954, she graduated with a BA in Political Science, and continued her education at Hunter College (CUNY) where she earned the MA in Social Studies. Rich later attended Columbia University where she earned the PhD in African History and Education. She has worked as a teacher, school administrator, and educational consultant throughout her life. This collection includes correspondence, articles, budgets, etc. from Evelyn Rich's various causes and organizations, including Lincoln House Outreach, the African American Institute, the New York City Public School District, and the Hunter College (CUNY) Campus Schools.
