Abstract:
G. Holmes Perkins became Dean of the School of Fine Arts in 1951 succeeding George Simpson Koyl. He served in that capacity through to 1971, overseeing changes in the curriculum and structure of the School in the second half of the twentieth century. The Records for G. Holmes Perkins tenure as dean of the School of Design reflect the administrative and academic activities of the school from about 1950 to 1965.

Abstract:
The School of Design started as the School of Architecture in 1890, eventually transitioning into the School of Fine Arts (1921), the Graduate School of Fine Arts (1959), and finally the School of Design (2002). The School of Design Office of the Dean Records Additional Correspondence contains additional files from the administrations of Warren Powers Laird, George Simpson Koyl, and G. Holmes Perkins that were not incorporated into the main Office of the Dean Records (UPB 8.4) when processed.
