Abstract:: Cyrus Adler was a prominent Jewish scholar and communal builder. Born in 1863, he had a tremendous role in shaping much of Jewish America by the time of his death in 1940. The collection contains Dr. Adler's business correspondence and personal papers and spans much of his multi-faceted career. It also contains many papers connected to the formation and day-to-day business of the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning. Intercollegiate Aeronautical Association of America Collection, 1910-1913 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Intercollegiate Aeronautical Association was formed in 1910 when delegates from a number of the colleges and universities met in convention at Houston Hall, University of Pennsylvania. The collection documents the activities of the Intercollegiate Aeronautical Association and relates to it's first president and Penn student George Atwell Richardson.

Abstract:: The Richards Family Collection documents the activities of Thomas Webb Richards (1836-1911) and his son Horace Clark Richards (1868-1945). Thomas Webb Richards was an architect, who designed four of the first buildings on the University of Pennsylvania's West Philadelphia Campus. Horace Clark Richards was a professor of physics and mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania.

Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Records, 1862-2008 (inclusive) 2001-2006 (bulk)

Abstract:: To celebrate Benjamin Franklin's 300th birthday, which fell on January 17, 2006, five institutions in the Philadelphia area formed in 2000 an alliance named Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Consortium. The Consortium initiated a grand multifaceted and internationally-involving scenario for the celebration. The full name of the project is Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary, or "Ben Franklin 300, 1706-2006." This collection documents the organization, planning and operation of the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary from the time the BFT Consortium was established in 2000 till the project was wrapped up in mid 2008.

Abstract:: George Allen (1808-1876) was an educator, Episcopal clergy, and author. This small collection is comprised of both manuscript and printed material written or collected by George Allen. The material includes correspondence, notes, transcriptions, and syllabi pertaining to the study of French, Italian, Greek, and Latin literature, and English literature and drama. Also included is a bound manuscript titled "Lectures on Athenian Drama." Material related to the University of Pennsylvania includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, and offprints. The collection also includes printed material, such as educational exercises and exams.

Abstract:: Moshe Greenberg (1928-2010) was an American Jewish Rabbi, Bible scholar, professor of Oriental Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and professor emeritus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. This collection includes three folders of material that document a very small portion of Greenberg's work at the University of Pennsylvania, including correspondence with J.J. Finkelstein regarding the editing of E.A. Speiser's works; correspondence, proposals, and plans relating to the early days of the Modern Near East Language and Area Center; and correspondence, statistics, and reports of the Humanities Study Group.

Beasley family papers, 1802-1929 (inclusive) 1822-1899 (bulk)

Abstract:: The Beasley family papers are comprised largely of documents relating to three generations of Beasleys who lived in the vicinity of Philadelphia in the nineteenth century: Frederick Beasley (1777-1845), Frederick Williamson Beasley (1808-1878), and Frederick Williamson Beasley, Jr. (1845-1873). The collection includes letters, certificates, published works of the Beasleys, memorabilia from the University of Pennsylvania, guidebooks to the city of Philadelphia, and auction catalogues relating to the interests of the Beasley and Bancker families. The collection includes items with dates ranging from 1802 to 1929, with the bulk of the material falling between 1822 and 1899.
