Abstract:

British-born poet and collagist John Digby (born 1938) immigrated to the United States in 1978 and lives on Long Island with his wife Joan Digby, whose creative work is also represented in this collection. Digby's papers document nearly five decades (1963-2004) of a prolific artistic and literary career, with significant representation of Digby's collaborations with international colleagues exhibiting, publishing, and creating Surrealist works in the 1960s-1970s. The collection includes all states of published and unpublished works, extensive correspondence, exhibition files, and original artwork.
