Abstract:
Tom G. Kessinger papers, from July 1988 to June 1996, are the administrative files of Haverford's 11th President. Memoranda, correspondence, reports, and other material document his administration, although there are several gaps in the records. Evidence of his accomplishments, including the renovation and expansion of some of the older buildings, construction of the Whitehead Campus Center, and technological advances, as well as his efforts to broaden the College world view may be found in these archives.

Thomas R. Tritton presidential papers, 1997-2007 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Thomas R. Tritton became Haverford College's 12th President in July, 1997, and served for a decade, leaving in June, 2007. A Quaker and a cancer research expert, Tritton came from the University of Vermont, where he had been a pharmacology professor, vice provost, and had had oversight for computing and technology. He was also responsible for the University's performing arts and museum programs. The hallmark of his tenure at Haverford was the successful "Educating to Lead, Educating to Serve" campaign to raise $200 million. The primary goal was to raise capital and endowment funds for "Tritton's concept of integrated scholarship [which] implies the dissolution of boundaries across and between academic disciplines as well as among the various constituencies of the College." Also Senior Staff meetings agenda, minutes and background material for weekly meetings of college President, Provost, Dean, V. P. Institutional Advancement, V. P. Abstract:
The papers of Hugh Borton, Haverford's president from 1957 to 1967, are arranged in three series. The Alphabetical series consists of a small and random selection of his office files. They help to document Borton's efforts to move the college to an expanded student body, his support of academic freedom from government intrusions, and a growing cooperative program with Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore Colleges. The Affiliations series relate to his work with U.S.-Asian, particularly U.S.-Japanese, organizations, the Society of Friends, and higher education groups. The third series is a small group of files on some of his activities before assuming the Haverford presidency.

Gilbert White presidential papers, 1944-1955 (inclusive) 1946-1955 (bulk)

Abstract:
Gilbert Fowler White's papers are sparse and provide little documentation of what was a very popular presidency. Their transfer to the archives appears to have been totally random, with a portion found as part of a transfer of Provost records. They have been placed in one alphabetical arrangement. There is some information on the efforts for Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Swarthmore cooperation, the response to the Korean War, and curriculum considerations. Correspondence on White's appointment and his resignation and the letters of appreciation written for the Haverford News give some indications of the College community's expectations for his presidency and his success in meeting those expectations. The texts and notes for his speeches to Haverford audiences, Quaker schools and organizations, government, civic, and professional groups do not provide additional documentation of his administration at Haverford, but do reveal his observations on education, world affairs, natural...(see more)

Abstract:
This is a small group of papers, 1940-1945, primarily relating to Haverford President Felix M. Morley's efforts to balance college support of the war without militarization. A portion of the files are from the files of Board member J. Henry Scattergood. Both the Morley and Scattergood material consist primarily of correspondence on bringing government subsidized non-combatant units to Haverford, as well as Haverford's own Relief and Reconstruction program. There is some information on his appointment and resignation as College president and some post-presidential correspondence.
