Overview and metadata sections
This collection consists of 24 videotaped interviews of Delaware residents who were Holocaust survivors, witnesses, or liberators. The interviews were conducted between 1989 and 1995 as part of a project coordinated by the Halina Wind Preston Holocaust Education Committee of the Jewish Federation of Delaware, in association with the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies at Yale University. A compilation of these interviews was broadcast by public television WHYY Wilmington/Philadelphia as "Holocaust Survivors Speak." A four-part video-recording of this production is also included in the collection.
The collection includes BETA video-recordings of the original interviews and VHS videocassette format for master copies as well as user copies. The interviews and WHYY programs are also available on DVD-R media.
For many of the interviews, pre-interview forms with biographical data and/or summary interview notes are available in Special Collections. Note: These items are housed in the administrative Collection Folders for MSS 0986, not with the collections itself.
The collection is arranged in alphabetical order by name of the person interviewed. This finding aid lists the name of the interviewee, the number of tapes, and the date of the interview.
Boxes 1-4: Shelved in SPEC MSS record center cartons Box 5: Shelved in SPEC MSS shoeboxes
Materials from the collection are available through the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies, Yale University.
