The Michael Peich paper specimens catalogs collection comprises American and worldwide paper manufacturers' sample books sent to Peich and Aralia Press from 1977-2008, largely advertising hand- and machine-made art and printing paper. Many of the booklets contain price lists and descriptions of their advertised papers in addition to their featured specimens.
The sample booklets are arranged alphabetically by paper manufacturer and/or wholesaler and further arranged by title. The catalogs and booklets were often "titled" by their manufacturers according to their featured paper(s), for example "Fine Art Papers". Similarly broader titles were used for multiple-specimen catalogs, such as "Great Names, Great Designers, Great Papers". The collection contains samples from large importers and distributors such as Andrews, Nelson, Whitehead; Legion Paper Corporation; and New York Central Art Supply, as well samples and specimens from smaller, craft proprietors and enthusiasts such as Maziarczyk Paperworks; Mohawk Paper Mills; and Twinrocker Handmade Paper.
The collection also contains a small amount of printing and papermaking correspondence and ephemera sent to Michael Peich from 1983-1997. These materials are arranged chronologically.
