Irish painter, playwright and author Samuel Lover (1797-1868) was a prolific artist during the nineteenth century. He painted portraits and wrote plays, ballads and novels.

This small collection consists of one autograph letter signed from Samuel Lover to publisher William Pickering, concerning Lover's "Irish Evenings," which eventually became his showPaddy's Portfolio.
