Autograph letter written and signed by William Cullen Bryant, American romantic poet, journalist, and editor, to Messrs. Carey and Hart of Philadelphia, saying that he has "sent you my autograph signature to be engraved under my portrait. It was my intention to write my name on the paper which contained the engraved portrait, but by inadventure I sent it off without doing so. I now enclose my autograph to be sent to the engraver." The letter is pasted on an album leaf and dated September 1, 1846.
