Walter J. Holt, Jr., grew up in Dover, Delaware, and his family was good freiends of the Frear family. In 1954, as a senior at Dover High School, Holt made individual portraits of the Frear family. He graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Universtiy of Delaware in 1958, and had a 45-year career in photography.
The Walter E. Holt, Jr., photographs of the Frear family and letter from J. Allen, Frear, Jr. contains seven photographic portraits taken between 1954 and 1957 by Walter E. Holt, Jr. of Delaware Senator J. Allen Frear, Jr., his wife, Esther Frear, their son Fred, and their daughter Clara. Also included is a letter from Senator Frear to Walter Holt, believed to be the photographer's father.
