Robert B. Taber (1846-1905) was the son of William C. Taber and Hannah T. Sherman Taber. He graduated from Haverford College and in 1873 married Annie P. Beard under the care of Bedford Monthly Meeting (Massachusetts). Founded by members of Bedford Monthly Meeting. the Barclay Society began in 1841 as a woman's organization "for reading and sewing for needy people."
The papers include a photocopy of marriage certificate of Robert B. Taber and Annie P. Beard under the care of Bedford Monthly Meeting, Massachusetts, on 9 month, 16, 1873; Barclay Sheaves, a manuscript dedicated to "Our Wives," 2 month 15, 1882, with essay on Friends and other topics, several labeled RBT; and a detailed essay addressed to My dear daughter with his interpretation of the principles of members of the Society of Friends. In pencil: "From Father/ABHR," with mentions of Haverford College.
