Overview and metadata sections
William Lewis Lamborn was born in 1839 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a birthright member of Little Britain Monthly Meeting. He was the son of Smedley and Margaret (Bolton) Lamborn and variously worked as a fruit grower, clerk, and manufacturer. In 1864 he married Phebe M. Barnard, and after her death, he married Emily Corbin. In 1872 as his health began to fail, he commenced research on his family history. He died of tuberculosis in 1876. His brother, George S. Lamborn, born 1831, continued the project and shared their research with Samuel Lamborn who published the book The Genealogy of the Lamborn Family in 1894.
The collection contains genealogical correspondence and notes compiled by William L. Lamborn in preparation for a proposed book on the Lamborn family. Included are a few letters addressd to his brother George S. Lamborn who continued the project after William's early death. Their research was included in Samuel Lamborn's Genealogy of the Lamborn Family published in 1894.
