Percy E. Clapp was a Quaker librarian. He was born in 1883 and joined the Society of Friends in 1909 at Oswego Monthly Meeting. In 1914 he transferred his membership to East Hamburg Monthly Meeting. He was a 1906 graduate of Cornell University where he was one of the early organizers of the Student Laundry Agency which helped students earn money for their education. After earning an M.A. from Columbia University, he worked at the New York Public Library from 1918 to 1948. After his retirement he served as keeper of the Records of New York Yearly Meeting, succeeding John Cox with whom he had worked. He died in 1958 after a lingering illness.
