Overview and metadata sections

The New York Friends Service Committee was established in 1917 following an appeal by New York Yearly Meeting to assist the American Friends Service Committee in its sewing and knitting work for European war relief. It soon developed into a buying and collecting agent to prepare clothing for shipment.

By 1922, the focus had changed to famine relief particularly for Russia and Austria. The Committee was encouraged to work directly through AFSC, and the Clothing Division was discontinued. This small collection contains some minutes, annual reports, and financial records.
