George D. Cock, a Hicksite Quaker, was born in 1816 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Elizabeth Cock. He married Susan W. Smith, daughter of Amos and Rebecca Smith at Little Falls Monthly Meeting, Maryland, in 1845. Cock worked on a riverboat on the Monangahela River, and later as a businessman in Baltimore, Maryland. He died in 1882.
