Abstract:: This collection includes letters written to Anna Wharton regarding her relief efforts for formerly enslaved people and war hospitals during the American Civil War.

Anna Wharton was a birthright Quaker involved in relief work among formerly enslaved people in the southern states during the American Civil War. The daughter of William and Deborah (Fisher) Wharton, she was born in 1834 and died unmarried in 1863.
