Overview and metadata sections

In 1822, the turmoil in Lynn Monthly Meeting of Friends in Massachusetts reached a climax, as so-called New Light ministers became disruptive and were disowned. Young Quaker minister, Mary Newhall, preached a unitarian doctrine. Jonathan Buffum and John Alley, Jr. were among her New Light followers who were disowned.
