Eliza Paul Gurney, Julia K. Clarke, and Francis Maria Shoemaker were daughters of Quakers Joseph and Mary Kirkbride. The girls' parents died when they were very young. Francis Maria, born around 1789, married Nathan Shoemaker in 1811. She was a member of Philadelphia Monthly Meeting until her death in 1860. Julia married David Clarke in 1829 and died in 1866. Eliza Paul, born 1801, married English Friend and reformer Joseph John Gurney in 1841. She was an active Quaker minister until her death in 1881.
