Overview and metadata sections
Wayne B. Hadley (1926-2001) was a family historian whose particular interest was in Quaker history and genealogy. Some of his research was published in the NGS Quarterly and other journals.
Born in Kinsman, Ohio, in 1926, he was the son of John Henry and Bessie Belle Bassett Hadley. He earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 1954 and married Hazel Mason Hadley the same year. Hadley was employed as a research chemist and also taught Chemistry at Ohio State and at the University of California at Berkeley. He also worked at Zenith and at AMP where he did research in the field of fiber optics.
This collection includes Wayne Hadley's extensive files on the history of the Hadley and related families. In addition to correspondence and source file, the collection also includes some biographical information about Wayne B. Hadley, as well as an annotated copy of the three volume set (and corrections) of Curtis E. Heaton's Ancestry of Simon Hadley, the Immigrant.
