Abstract:
Records of Philadelphia Friends Housing Inc., an independent corporation affiliated with Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting of Friends. The corporation raised and lent money for urban redevelopment in Philadelphia.

A group of members of the Peace and Social Concerns Committee of Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting decided in 1967 to form a corporation, Philadelphia Friends Housing Inc., to play a role in urban renewal. They raised money to purchase a home on Mt. Vernon Street and to rehabilitate it for a needy family. Later they lent money to the Crosstown Development Corporation and to the Cedar Park Community Development Corporation. According to Margaret Bacon's history of Central Philadelphia Meeting, the corporation was laid down in 1981.
