Walter Hallowell Jenkins was a storekeeper in Gwynedd, served as Clerk of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and operated the Friends Book Store in Philadelphia. His wife, Esther Peterman Lukens, was the daughter of Alan R. and Mary B. (Butcher) Lukens. Of their five children, only Sarah married. The family had many connections to Swarthmore College.
This collection consists of four family albums, two of which are identified as "Property of the Descendants of Walter H. & Esther L. Jenkins."
This collection is in the form of four albums, stored in two boxes.

Collection Inventory
Ornate 8-1/2 x 10-1/2" with cabinet sized albumen prints, unidentified. by various Philadelphia, Chester, and Conshohocken professional photographers.
Ornate 8 x 9-1/2" with most cabinet sized removed, carte-de-visite remaining. Most unidentified. One card labeled "on our wedding trip, March 1st, 1884," taken in Rochester, NY, can be identified as Walter H. Jenkins.
Cloth bound 11-1/2 x 9" Card identifies it as "Family album in the possession of the children of Walter H. Jenkins." Some individuals identified: Styer, Lloyd [marked "taken June 1878" on reverse, by Broadbent & Taylor], Butcher, Carroll, Price, Shepherd, Walker, Lukens, Haines, Walter [tintype]
Ornate leather, 11-1/2 x 8-1/2". Loose in front, full-length photograph of Gertrude Lukens Price. Most identified. Set of 3 with same props taken by Trask, Philadelphia includes one identified child "Mary J. Ambler." Other children identified are Jenkins, Ambler, Emmons, Leedon, Kinglet, Lydia W. Foulke, Jacob and Hannah Walton, Houghton, Leech. Some very nice tintypes.
