Overview and metadata sections
Five 19th century bound albums, gift of Mary Sullivan Patterson before 1971. This collection inherited by Mary Sullivan Patterson, Quaker historian and genealogist, presumably from her mother, Alice Penrose Thomson, who married Marshall Phillips in 1904. She was the daughter of Thomas Thomson and Mary Eyre Thomson.
The collection consists of black and white photograph albums. Depictions include portraits of family members, group photographs and a photo of Swarthmore College. Of special interest are a photograph of President Lincoln with a young boy and a photograph of Lucretia Mott.
The photograph albums are organized alphabetically in boxes.
Gift of Mary Sullivan Patterson before 1971.

Collection Inventory
Largely Eyre and Thomson family but also James, Hicks, etc. Photographs are Carte-de-visite.
Amos (1789-1863) and Alice (d. 1875) Jones were the grandparents of Thomas Thomson. Photographs are Carte-de- visite. Includes members of Yerkes, Martin, etc.
Alice J. Thomson (1840-1903) was the younger sister of Thomas Thomson. She married Benjamin F. Penrose in 1874. Album contains cartes de visite and some later photographs pasted into album, including J. Dawson Thomson, 1929, and photo of Hallowell homestead inscribed "Love to Aunt Jane," 1928. Jane (1845-1937) and J. Dawson (1845-1938) were also siblings of Thomas Thomson.
Cartes de visite labeled in either Alice J. Thomson Jones or Alice Penrose Thomson Sullivan's hand with later notes by Mary Sullivan Patterson. Includes members of Thomson, Eyre, Taylor, etc.
Photographs include Thomson, Penrose, Wildman, Hallowell, etc.
