Overview and metadata sections

Five 19th century bound albums, gift of Mary Sullivan Patterson before 1971. This collection inherited by Mary Sullivan Patterson, Quaker historian and genealogist, presumably from her mother, Alice Penrose Thomson, who married Marshall Phillips in 1904. She was the daughter of Thomas Thomson and Mary Eyre Thomson.

The collection consists of black and white photograph albums. Depictions include portraits of family members, group photographs and a photo of Swarthmore College. Of special interest are a photograph of President Lincoln with a young boy and a photograph of Lucretia Mott.

The photograph albums are organized alphabetically in boxes.
