An American naturalist and philologist Haldeman was professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and one of seven children. Haldeman was educated at Dickinson College and the University of Pennsylvania.
A small collection of correspondence and and lectures. The collection consists mainly of correspondence with Haldeman arranged alphabetically by correspondent. The lectures are arranged by date. Titles of some of Haldeman's lectures include "The Defects of American Literature;" "Spelling Reform;" and his Introductory Lecture on Agricultural Chemistry at Delaware College.
