Overview and metadata sections

American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899, in Oak Park, Illinois. The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park, sponsored a 100th birthday extravaganza in July of 1999 which featured: a weeklong humanities festival, a literary conference, art exhibits, a Spanish-style "Fiesta de Hemingway," and a series of theatrical and spoken-word performances, including the world premiere of "It Just Catches", a play by Hemingway's daughter-in-law based on Hemingway's work.

Sid Neff Jr. is a resident bibliophile and bookbinder in Pennsylvania. In the early 1980's he transitioned from a career in graphic design to bookbinding. His work has been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad and examples of Sid's work have been published in books and periodicals in the U.S. and Europe.

The Sid Neff Jr. collection on Ernest Hemingway primarily comprises newsletters and new articles on a variety of topics regarding Ernest Hemingway. Included in the collection is a copy of Robert M. Myer's manuscript Ernest Hemingway: A Compendium of the Persons and Characters in his Fiction, Life and Times.
