Overview and metadata sections
Little is known about the owner of this album, Alexander Fullerton Huston. Huston probably lived in Pennsylvania in the mid to late 19th century and possibly practiced law.
This collection dates roughly to the 1870s and contains engravings and photographs of American and European royalty, political leaders, military leaders, explorers, scientists, philosophers, artists, and actors. It is divided into thirteen sections, each one being defined by a geographic region. Within these sections, there are engravings and photographs of the most influential people of that area presented in chronological order, from the beginning of the country's history to roughly 1870. The sections include America, England, Denmark and Sweden, Italy, France, Germany and Prussia, Russia, Poland, Prague and Austria, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Turkey. After these thirteen sections is a handwritten description of Dr. Michael Leib (1760-1822), a U.S. Senator from 1809 to 1814, which is followed by Dr. Leib's obituary.
Gift of Dr. Horace Wright, 1964.
