Overview and metadata sections

A hand-ruled volume written in black ink containing a French grammar and dictionary on the study of Hebrew created at the Bibliotheque de la Résidence des Jésuites de Rouen. On the inside front cover is a pencil drawing of Moses holding a staff and tablets. Following is a leaf tipped in stating the book belongs to B. S., Mansion rue Etoupée, 36 à Rouen, 1882. The first two leaves have been divided into six columns across two pages with the following alphabets: Arabic, Syrian, Hebrew, Samaritain, Phoenician, and "Medailles Hebr." The next four pages list vowels and accents. Following are ten pages of verb conjugations and their tenses. There is a list of Hebrew punctuations followed by three pages of prefixes and suffixes. The remainder of the volume, 128 pages, consists of root word translations and their grammatical use. The verso of the last leaf has three strips of linen pasted on the page vertically. The inside back cover has a portion of a piano keyboard. There are three fragments of leaves laid in the volume. "Directions to natives of Ireland," is made up of a three column list of words in English with pronunciation symbols above the vowels. The second item consists of various signatures. The third item is a prayer request with a list of Rouen street names on the verso.

Label on inside front cover: Bibl. Resid. Rothom. S. J.
