Overview and metadata sections
A red leather volume embossed with gold decorative images and the owner's the name Anna M. Leslie. The album contains copied and original short verses, poems, and quotations. Some items are addressed to Anna and signed by friends spanning the years from 1843 to 1849. Ms. Leslie appears to have lived in the Philadelphia area as evidenced from the cities written by most of the entries. They include Philadelphia and West Chester, Pennsylvania, and Bridgeton, New Jersey. Many entries are signed with first names or initials. There are contributions signed by James Godman Peale (1823-1891), Washington Peale (1825-1868), and J. R. White. In the middle of the volume are two printed black-and-white illustrations. A majority of the volume is blank. An early twentieth century photograph of an unidentified child is laid in the volume.
