Overview and metadata sections

Nothing is known of the creator of this volume, except that she appears to have been a Jewish immigrant from Germany to the United States.

This volume consists of typed poems (directly on the page or typescripts pasted onto pages) in German and English. The poems date from 1929 to 1992, but are not in chronological order; therefore it seems possible that the volume was compiled at a later date. The volume has several sections: Erstes Erlebnis (First impressions, p. 39), Worte an Meine Mutter (Words to my mother, p. 47), and In Liebe (In love, p. 77). The volume appears to be connected to Leonor Meyer (1911-1997) in some way. On the inside front page there is a reference to Light and shadows, a book by Meyer. There are also at least two poems attributed to Leonore Meyer, a poem to Paul Meyer (Leonore Meyer's brother) and his wife Ilse on their 40th Anniversary (p. 74), and a poem to Paul Meyer on the occasion of his 80th birthday (p. 75), in which he is called Grandpa. There is a newspaper clipping laid in at p. 24, a red card stock bookmark laid in at p. 28, and a typescript poem laid in at p. 70. The volume is bound in brackets and is lacking the front cover.

Gift of Ditta Baron Hoeber.

This volume was cataloged during a group project in July 2025.
