Overview and metadata sections

An oversize volume listing the arrival of ships, probably at Boston Harbor spanning ten years from 1813 to 1823. Each ship has been entered by date of arrival. Recorded for each vessel is possibly the pier or dock number, type and name of ship, the name of the ship's master, and place of origin. Below the header information are columns documenting the date, names of consignees, marks and numbers, packages and contents, followed by several columns denoting rates of duties. The final line of information recorded for each ship is the "Total amount of duties on this cargo." Consignees for the cargo include shipping merchants such as Phineas and Seth Sprague, Benjamin Delano, and William Davis. The brigs, schooners, ships, and sloops listed in the volume arrived from various points on the globe including Cadiz, Canton, Gibraltar, Gutenburg, Halifax, Martinico (Martinique), St. Bart, and Turk's Island among others. Some of the items listed under the packages and contents are various types of containers of teas, spices, raisins, coffee, candy, sugar, lemons, brandy, wine, rum, silks, cottons, china ware, copper, iron, and wood.

Acquired in 1960.
