Overview and metadata sections
According to the auction description, the Israel Song Festival (Festival HaZemer VeHapizmon) was a music competition that occurred in Israel in the 1960s and 1970s, in concurrence with Israel's Independence Day celebrations. In later years, the Israel Song Festival determined who would represent the country in the international music competition, Eurovision.
This collection consists of seven programs for the Israel Song Festival, ranging from 1970 to 1982, and 53 postcards of Israeli singers. Almost all the programs have notes written in the margins or covers. While many songs in the programs are in Hebrew, others are in English, French and Italian. Some of the programs contain sheet music for individual songs.
Among the 40 singers represented in the postcards are Drora Havkin, Hanna Ahroni, Svika Pick, Aryeh Moskona, Yardena Arazi, Yigal Bashan and Ami Shavit. People wrote on at least five of the postcards to send to friends and family members. Singers signed their autograph on seventeen of the postcards. The postcards include the names of the depicted singer and sometimes a song or album title.
