Overview and metadata sections
In 1947, the American Law Institute (ALI) authorized the drafting of amendments proposed due to changes in the law since the publication of the First Restatement of the Law. The purpose of the ALI's charge was designed to bring the Restatement "up-to-date" and in keeping with current law.
The Keeping the Restatement Up-To-Date Records, 1946-1947, include correspondence with ALI Director William Draper Lewis, meeting records, drafts, and other records related to the drafting of amendments to the ALI's First Restatement of the Law.
