Overview and metadata sections
In 1964, the American Law Institute (ALI) secured funding to examine and codify the law relating to land use and development. The resulting document was the Model Land Development Code, adopted by the ALI in May 1975. It contained 10 Articles. Allison Dunham served as Chief Reporter on the project.
The Model Land Development Code Records, 1960-1974 and undated, include preliminary studies, drafts, memoranda, correspondence, and related records concerning the drafting and adoption of the Model Land Development Code, a project that examined and codified the law relating to land use and development. The Model Land Development Code was promulgated in 1975.
Throughout this collection, researchers should note the following abbreviations when examining the collection: "PD" stands for Preliminary Draft "TD" stands for Tentative Draft "CD" stands for Council Draft
