T. Grier Miller was an medical educator, researcher and practitioner. He received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1911. He was a member of Penn's faculty of the School of Medicine from 1913 - 1953. Miller is credited with instituting psychiatric services at the Hospital, University of Pennsylvania in 1947; and inventing the Miller-Abbott tube (1934) with W. Osler Abbott which revolutionized gastrointestinal diagnosis, treatment and surgery.
Includes correspondence with colleagues pertaining to the mechanics of providing psychiatric services at the Hospital, University of Pennsylvania (1946-1947); autobiographical recollections by Miller of those events which precipitated the establishment of the Psychiatric Clinic; also personal correspondence with family members (1969-1981).
